‘That boy is mine’: Confusion in court as 3 men claim paternity of a 6-year-old boy in Oyo

court-hammer6A court in Oyo had a curious dilemma placed before it after 3 men claimed the paternity of a single child.
Idowu Oluokun, Muiz Adebayo and Muniru Adeyemi are all claiming paternity of a six-year-old boy born to Aminat Adebayo.
The customary court, sitting in the Iseyin area of the state, ordered the parties to the matter to keep the peace after Oluokun filed the suit  against the Adebayos claiming paternity of the child.
Oluokun claimed that the mother of the child, Aminat, had moved out of his home in 2007 when she was 5 months pregnant with their child.
He said:
“Aminat was five months pregnant when she packed out of my house after we had  a misunderstanding. “I later made efforts  to bring her back to my house,  but she refused. “I even approached her parents  but they could not get the matter resolved.
“I later learnt she had married an Oyo-based business man. “I have done everything possible to get my son back. She is, however, insisting that the child is not mine, a boy that looks so much like me,” he said.
The matter was still pending when yet another man, Adeyemi, claimed that he had fathered the child with Aminat.
Adebayo, Aminat’s husband insists that the child in question is his. He said:
“Aminat lost a pregnancy before I married her. “The child is mine and I have the evidence. I’m willing to tender it in court when the time comes. “The baby is mine and everyone in this town knows  that.’’
The case has been adjourned till April 7 and the court has ordered all the parties involved to present evidence of  paternity.
