Unemployment in the country has been a matter of serious concern with so many graduates searching tirelessly for jobs.
However,
in a bid to help the unemployed graduates in the country, the Committee
on Law,
Judiciary, Human Rights and Legal Reform at the National
Conference suggested that unemployed Nigerian graduates be paid a
monthly allowance of N19, 800.
The same amount the government pay NYSC members during their service year.
According to a member of the committee:
"The
recommendation is our own way of finding solutions to the rising wave
of crime in the country and to also force the government to do the
needful for the increasing number of unemployed graduates in the
country.
We have done our part and it is left for the delegates to either reject or accept it at plenary,” said a committee member.
With
this proposal, some members of the committee stated that the action
would force the Federal Government to be alive to its responsibility of
providing welfare to its citizens
