The police in Ogun State have arrested no fewer than 110 suspected criminals in different parts of the state.
The police in the state have also arrested one Ali Mohammed said to
be of Arab stock in the Ibafo area of the state for alleged armed
robbery.
The state police public relations officer, Muyiwa Adejobi said that
the arrest of the over 110 suspects came as result of raids carried out
by all the divisions under the command in black spots across the state
weekend.
Adejobi said that the raids were carried out in black spots under the
jurisdiction of Sagamu,Ijebu Ode,Ilaro, Otta and Abeokuta area commands
under the supervision of the deputy commissioner in charge of
Department of Operations, deputy commissioner of police, Akpoebi
Agberebi.
The police spokesman said that the command worked on the intelligence
gathered by its State Intelligence Bureau on the dangerous black spots
in Ogun State, which lead to the raids and the eventual arrest of the
suspects.
The command had earlier vowed to sustain its raid on black spots
where bad boys converge to plan and execute their evil acts with a view
to flushing hoodlums out of Ogun State and improve on protection of
lives and property of the citizenry.
“The commissioner of police Ogun State, CP Ikemefuna Okoye has
however ordered concerned Area Commanders and Divisional Police
Officers to screen the suspects properly so that it is only those found
wanting that will be charged to court,” Adejobi said.
On the arrest of an Arab for alleged armed robbery, the PPRO said
that policemen attached to the Ibafo Division of the command arrested
Mohammed, who claimed to be resident in Port Harcourt on Sunday 20th
April at Moko near Ibafo.

Our correspondent gathered that the Arabian was arrested when
policemen responding to a distress call from residents of the area.
The policemen were said to have apprehended about four armed men who had burgled into a house and robbed the occupants.
The police team dislodged the robbers and arrested one of them.
“The Commissioner of police has also instructed the Divisional Police
Officer in Ibafo to look for the fleeing robbers and apprehend them;
and must add more pep in curbing crimes in the area,” the PPRO said.
