She is the wife of the veteran actor Olu Jacobs. Joke said she never compromises when it come to her roles in Nollywood despite doing what she knows to do best.
She said young actresses look at her as their role model because of longevity she has been able to maintain in the movie industry. She said one needs to have the longevity and the passion in addition to a family life and a career at the same time.
She said she is not a supporter of the idea of New Nollywood. It is for a simple reason that she looks at the entire film industry as one and there is nothing new and old in Nollywood for her.
Joke said that she has never left the industry and is doing a lot of work in the theater and also in some films in the last couple of months. She also produced a movie, King Maker, with her husband about 10 years ago. At that time, they were part of a new distribution network that was to begin, but it could not do as good as they were hoping. Lack of a proper distribution platform led them to not go into film production.
The roles Joke has played in her movies depict that she is not far from being a feminist. She said it is very important because the universe created by God with two opposite sexes. The woman was not created by God to be subordinate to the man, but to be a helpmate to the man.
