Background
I am a musician called by God and I am also a child of a man of God.  I had been singing from childhood, but God called me in 1996. Before then, I was a keyboardist and I recognised my gift from a very early age. Eventually, God called me as a music minister to gather people and minister to them in songs. Any time I play the keyboard, the presence of God always engulfs me. This is despite the fact that I was never taught to play the keyboard. All this are pointers that I was born to do God’s music.
Music professionally?
It began in 1996. It didn’t really come from me. I was still a student and wanted to face my studies. So, when God called me, I asked God to name the ministry, especially as I wasn’t very interested. A woman initially discouraged me, but later came back the same evening to inform me to change my mind. Other pastors also confirmed my calling, in addition to a dream where I saw myself on a big stage leading people to praise God. So, I started a programme tagged ‘Hour of praise’ last year and we had have four editions.
The fifth one is in June and God has instructed that it should be done in a big way and that is why Jogor Centre was chosen and we decided to tag it ‘Jesus Festival’. It will hold on June 22.
Why Jesus Festival?
It is an annual programme given birth to by the ‘Hour of praise’ series. We want to gather children of God once a year to celebrate Jesus. It is all about Jesus. It will be a great time in God’s presence. This year, great gospel acts like Toun Soetan, Goke Bajowa, Global Harvest Choir, Living Spring Chapel Choir, among others will be performing.
Are you a recording artiste or just a praise singer?
I have released three albums; God of new beginning, My future and E gbe ga.
On use of worldly beats.
When I was asked to infuse some fast worldly beats in my recording, I refused because I was called to do pure gospel music. In fact, I didn’t get any marketer until my third album when a church member called me and introduced me to a marketer who eventually helped me.
Is gospel music profitable?
God called us and pays the salary. Finances may be a challenge but God has been sufficient.
Normal day?
As a presenter, I go out to find news, then as an artiste, I wait on God for inspiration.
Is there a future for gospel music in Nigeria?
God calls. He would raise people to praise him because it is not a profitable enterprise. It is a service. God finds a way to provide needs.
Balancing job, music and family
Job and music goes hand in hand. I am self employed so I make out time.
